Engagement Party Recap

I promised a recap of our Engagement Party that my parents hosted Memorial Day weekend and here it is! We decided to have the party on Sunday and to our luck, the rain stayed away. Instead, we were plagued with the heat. 98 Degree heat to be exact. It was treacherous, but everyone kept a smile on their face and sipped on their champagne. It was a bubbly party, after all. My mom was amazing, pulling everything off without professional help and putting on a spread that fed us for days to come. Of course, she had help from some amazing friends, but she was really did an amazing job. Thanks, Mom!

Aren’t those flower arrangements awesome? Thanks to a friend, they came together in no time.

Both my mom and stepdad gave some really sweet and touching speeches and I’m glad I was able to hold it together and not break down in tears. Partly because I was so dried out from sweating all day long. How fab!

I wore a dress from –gasp- Forever 21! But hell, everybody complimented me on it and asked where I got it from. Paired with my all time favorite wedges, I threw my hair up in a simple, messy bun and called it a day.

We also received some very thoughtful (and useful!) gifts from our family members and it now officially feels real! I;m getting married! Happy 6 month engagement-versary

Mini Bathroom Makeover

As mentioned before, I love changing things up around the apartment. Over the weekend, I took a look at our bathroom cabinets and decided to clean up a bit. I mostly use organic and natural products but, given that I'm a girl, have bought my fair share of beauty products in the past.

Now I know it definitely isn't a huge change but I threw out about 80% of what was crammed into this cabinet. I also don't put product in my hair, I don't even blow dry or straighten it half the time, but I can't bring myself to throw away some left over items. I'm more frugal than earth conscious after all. I still hope to eventually use or gift the leftover products and if at all, replace them with natural options.

A more dramatic change occurred in the make up drawer:

There was a lot of empty stuff in there and products I bought on a whim but only used once and never again.

It definitely felt great cleaning out some of the old junk and making room for a more organized bathroom. I have been trying not to purchase any new beauty products (read: not go to Target) and my wallet, skin and bathroom are definitely thanking me.

How often do you clean out your make up/ bathroom cabinet? I heard those puppies actually all have an expiration date so I probably should do the above more than once ever 3 years.

PS: Thanks to all of you who reached out to me about the Free Sponsorship Opportunity in June!!!
